The new high fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) legislation is a government initiative to tackle obesity and promote healthier choices amongst consumers. The legislation will see a seismic shift within the FMCG market and will be enforced from October 2022.
To support this government initiative, retailers including Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Waitrose and Partners, have worked together to agree a solution that will make complying with the HFSS legislation easier and more efficient for their suppliers.
We are pleased to announce that they have partnered with global standards organisation, GS1 UK to provide their HFSS solution through our productDNA platform.
This single platform will be used by all the retailers listed below as the shared source of HFSS data from their suppliers.
This free solution will allow their suppliers to easily manage and share their HFSS product data to multiple retailers in one action. Data attributes will be enriched and built on the foundation of GS1 industry standards for consistency across all retail channels.
Launching soon, you can register your interest in the free productDNA HFSS solution to upload, manage and share your HFSS product data. You must be a GS1 UK member or other GS1 organisation member to sign up to productDNA.
If you are already a productDNA subscriber there is no need to do anything. The new HFSS attributes will become available in the user interface once the solution launches and you will be notified when this is available.
