Core accountabilities:
- Develop and implement a membership proposition roadmap in line with current and future members’ needs
- Develop and implement strategies which drive business growth through increased engagement
- Represent the current and future needs of small and medium enterprises (SME) within the business and key communities and facilitate the development of solutions which address their needs
- Build actionable insights by understanding the dynamics of our membership in the context of broader societal trends
Key responsibilities:
Membership
- Develop an insight-led approach to develop our value proposition, based on qualified industry needs, economic parameters and membership data
- Develop and implement pricing and proposition strategies to attract and retain members
- Work in partnership with the head of membership experience to deliver excellent service to our members
- Collaborate with the head of marketing to ensure compelling content and optimised customer journeys to drive engagement and advocacy
Small Medium Enterprise Engagement
- Lead the development and implementation of the GS1 UK SME programme to grow revenue by increasing membership, service adoption and retention of existing members
- Identify key community partners to drive acquisition and advocacy
- Deliver partner engagement plans, that will activate the partnerships and their associated communities
- Build strategic engagements with SME influencers, policy formers, relevant associations and culturally aligned communities to drive sustainable membership growth
Insights
- Build a capability that ensures we understanding of our members in the context of broader industry trends
- Drive the development of quality membership data to deliver robust insights.
- Provide an holistic view of our membership data to facilitate segmentation, forecasting and other modelling actions
Collaboration
- Identify key stakeholder groups that will provide us with insights and allow us to deepen our influence with key audiences
- Ensure that the membership requirements are aligned with other key internal team deliverables
- Represent GS1 UK at industry events

- Membership professional who can inspire the business by increasing understanding of the needs of our members
- Proven ability to deliver a roadmap for the evolution of a membership proposition
- Commercially astute
- A creative mind that will lead the development of programmes and content that will engage our members
- Ability to optimise key membership journeys, acquisition, engagement and retention
- A robust understanding of the dynamics and challenges of a start-up business and their communities
- Experience of establishing long-term working relationships with industry stakeholders
- Extensive experience of managing and leading teams
- Proven ability to work effectively across diverse teams
